To blend basic colors:

  1. From the main softWoRx menu, choose View | Blend Colors to open the Blend Colors dialog box.

  2. In the Input field, enter an image file name or window number.

  3. To include only selected data, click Details to open the Region Details dialog box. Then specify the ranges of data that you want to include in the Output Options fields.

  4. Select which wavelengths to blend.

  5. Click the Color buttons and set the color scale for each wavelength until the image is satisfactory. You will probably need to scale each wavelength in your data set differently. (If you define a color scheme that you like, you can save it in a file for later reference.)

  6. Choose one of the following methods for creating the blended image:

To create a new blended color by adding the colors for all the wavelengths in each pixel, choose Additive.
    -or-

To use the color of the wavelength with the highest normalized intensity in a pixel, choose Max Opacity.
    -or-
To subtract the pixel values of higher priority wavelengths from the lowest priority wavelength so that the lower priority color is not mixed in, choose Priority.

  7. If you are using the Priority method, Specify the lower priority wavelength in the Lowest Priority Wave field.

  8. Select Opacity if you want to create special information that can be used by the Volume Viewer to do a true volume rendering of color-blended multi-wavelength images.

  9. Click Do It.

The Blended image is displayed in a new Image window.

  10. Check the image to make sure that it is satisfactory. (In some cases, Blend Colors alters the scaling that you have set.) Repeat steps 5-9 until you are satisfied with the results.

Notes

  • If input is from a window, the default scaling is the same as scaling in the window. If the input is a file, then the min and max of the file is the default.

  • The final scaling must be set before the colors are blended because the data cannot be rescaled once it is "color" processed.
