Blend Colors Tool Options

Use the Blend Colors window to color each wavelength for your final images when you are using the Basic Color mode. You will need to use Blend Colors to:

Note  No matter how many wavelengths are entered in Blend Colors, the final image is only a three wavelength image. These wavelengths are the red, green and blue components of all the input wavelengths blended together. In your final images, the individual wavelengths can no longer be turned on and off. The wavelengths that you put into the image are part of that image. The scaling for individual wavelengths cannot be changed, although the brightness can be controlled.

Open the Blend Colors window by choosing View | Blend Colors from the main softWoRx menu.

Wavelengths

Specify input data and output parameters as shown in Image Input and Output.

Color

Open the Choose Color for Wave X dialog box to select a color for each wavelength.

Method

Choose one of the following methods for creating the blended image:

  • Additive adds the colors that would result in each pixel for all the wavelengths and makes a new blended color.

  • Max Opacity takes only the intensity of the wavelength with the highest normalized intensity and places the selected color for that wavelength in that pixel.

  • Priority subtracts the pixel values of higher priority wavelengths from the lowest priority wavelength so that the lower priority color does not mix in and change the color of higher priority wavelengths. Use this option to blend a grayscale image with color (with the grayscale wavelength set to the lowest priority).

Opacity

Create special information along with the Red, Green, and Blue color components. This information is used by the Volume Viewer to do a true Volume Rendering of color-blended multi-wavelength images.

Lowest Priority Wave

Specify the lowest priority wavelength for use with the Priority method. If you are blending a grayscale image with color, choose the grayscale wave as the lowest priority.

True Colors

Assign colors to closely match the wavelength of each channel to a color in the visible spectrum.

Save Colors

Save the custom colors that you have created.

Load Colors

Select a previously-saved color scheme.

Brightness

Modify the brightness of the image after the blended output image is created. Click on the left side of the button to decrease the brightness; click on the right side to increase the brightness.
