To correct chromatic aberration:

Use the Chromatic Aberration Corrector to adjust channels relative to each other. This tool allows you to correct for shifts in color that result from oil matching, objective anomalies, and other environmental conditions (especially humidity) using X-Z and Y-Z image profiles.

  1. From the main softWoRx menu, Choose Measure | Chromatic Correction to open the Chromatic Aberration Corrector window.

  2. In the Window field, enter a multi-channel Image Window to reference.

A yellow line appears in the Image window.

  3. In the Image Profile list, choose X-Z or Y-Z as the vertical profile to inspect.

  4. Drag the yellow line in the Image Window to adjust the X or Y position of the profile.

  5. In the Chromatic Aberration Corrector window, use the colored toggle buttons on the left to specify which channel to adjust (relative to the other channels).

  6. To move the selected channel up or down relative to the other channels, click the up and down arrow buttons on the Chromatic Aberration Corrector.

  7. To Save the adjusted image, choose File | Save Image With Corrections from the Chromatic Aberration Corrector window menu.

Note:  For correcting chromatic aberration introduced by the optics, it is recommended that you make the measurement using a multi-colored bead so as not to bias the data. Measure the offset using the bead, then apply the same corrections to actual sample files.
