Cut Mask

Using a polygon list created with the Edit Polygon or 2D Object Finder tools, the data contained within those polygons can be cut out from the rest of the data. You can write either the data or a binary mask to the new data file.

Open Cut Mask by choosing Edit | Cut Mask from the main softWoRx menu.

Polygon Data

Specify a list of polygons (defined using Edit Polygon or 2D Object Finder) to be used to cut image data. If you indicate an Input window that has polygons in it already, you will see a "Loaded in window" message.

Create Mode

Choose one of the following modes and specify whether to act on the inside or outside of the polygons.

  • Choosing Data cuts all of the data inside or outside of each polygon and copies it to the output destination.

  • Choosing Mask creates an output file with only 1's and 0's representing either the Inside or Outside of the polygons.

Threshold

Specify a lower threshold in addition to the polygons. For example, you can transfer only data inside of the polygons and greater than an intensity value of 300.

Trim Output

Select Trim Output:

  • With Trim Output selected, the smallest area containing all the polygons is the area written to the output window.

  • With Trim Output deselected, the size of the file has the same x-y dimensions as the original file, but only the part defined by polygons has intensity.
