3DModel Picking Points Commands

Use Picking points options to understand the physical relationships of objects to each other in 3D space.

When you click the Picking button on the 3D Model window or click with the left mouse button in the window, you can choose the following options:

Field

Description

Normal

Creates points linked one after the other. Points are added to the object after the current point. Using the buttons described below, the current point can be set to any point on the object. if the current point is not the last point, when in Normal mode, the new point becomes a branch off of the current point.

Obj + Spheres

Works the same way as the Normal mode, only automatically puts a sphere marker at each point of the object. This is useful for grouping a set of markers together.

Obj + Cubes

Works just like Obj + Spheres but uses cubes.

Just Dots

Puts little pixel sized dots in your model window. Many of these together give the effect of density without really blocking the view. These dots are not connected and you cannot move from point to point as with regular points.

Add to Top

Adds a point to the front of the list. Normally when you are on the current point, the next point made will be created after the current point.

Preview

Shows where a point lands in the model before it is actually added to the model.

Insert Point

Inserts a point between two points. Use Insert Point before picking a point if you want to insert it between two points instead of creating a branch. (In Normal mode, if the current point is not the last point, the new point becomes a branch off of the current point.)

Move Current

 Moves the current point.
