To copy files to a CD or DVD:

  1. Place a blank CD or DVD into the CD drive.

  2. On the softWoRx main menu, choose Utilities | Archive Data to CD to open the K3b CD/DVD creation window.

  3. Click on the New Data CD Project (or New Data DVD Project) icon to open the Current projects window.

  4. Navigate to the files you want to archive and double-click on each file you want to copy to the CD, or drag and drop the files into the Current Projects window.

  5. As you put files in the file window, the left side of the status bar tells you how much space the files require.

  6. When you have placed all of the files that you want to copy into the file window, click the Burn icon in the bottom right corner of the status bar to open the Data Project - K3b dialog box.

  7. Click the Burn button at the top right corner of the window to start copying files to the CD. For more complete information on using the K3b “CD Kreator” tool, select Help | K3b Handbook on the K3b main window to view the entire user’s manual for K3b.

Notes

  • The Archive Data to CD function only works in native Linux mode, not Windows (VMWare).

  • If the files you want to copy to CD or DVD are on a network drive, copy the files to the hard drive on the workstation before copying them to a CD or DVD. This will minimize potential data transfer delays that may make it difficult to create the CD or DVD.
