About the Stage View

The Stage View (shown below) is a square region that represents the microscope stage and associated controls. As you move the stage in X and Y, the field-of-view box moves. The path that you take while exploring the slide is displayed by tan lines (stage trails). Points that you mark are indicated as small squares and point numbers.

Notes:

#1 The current X, Y, and Z position is printed at the lower left of the Stage View.

#2 Double-clicking with the left mouse button visits the marked point closest to the cursor and acquires an image.

#3 When the Field-of-View box moves past a Stage View boundary (while using joystick, for example) the Stage View re-centers so that the Field-of-View box is in the middle.

#4 In Z, the "Up" arrow moves the focal plane up by moving the stage itself down (closer to the objective).

#5 Since the focal plane can be moved without the system's electronics knowing (by turning the focus knob), the Focal Plane Z indicator only provides relative position information; it can't show exactly where you are in relation to the Slide or Cover Slip surfaces.
