Backlash removal minimizes Z sectioning errors by ensuring that mechanical components are appropriately configured to minimize friction or tolerance-related positioning errors.
From the Experiment Designer window, choose Options | Z Scan Options to open the Experiment Designer Options window.
Select Apply Backlash Removal. (With this option selected, the stage is moved past the starting point of the scan, then back to the starting point before the scan begins.)
In the Backlash Distance field, enter the length of the backlash move in microns. Then click Done.
