To get statistics of polygon areas:
Choose Model | Edit Polygon on the main softWoRx menu.
Click a polygon option
(e.g.,
freehand) on the Edit Polygon window.
Select the Guided Select option to automatically find the borders around objects (based on changes in intensity values).
Draw the polygons on the Image window. You can draw sets of polygons on the same Z section and on different Z sections.
Choose Statistics | Table to display a table that shows statistical values for each polygon or Statistics | Graph to display a graph of the statistics values.
From the Table File menu, choose Save As SYLK to save the file in a format that can be opened by a spreadsheet.

Note You may find that the calculated value for a polygon's area is overestimated. Basically, the polygon area calculation is performed as: [number pixels enclosed] x [pixel size X] x [pixel size Y] = area in square microns. When you are measuring a selected area, all of the pixels that the polygon boundary crosses are included in the calculation. You can therefore end up with a somewhat larger area measurement than expected. This overestimate is substantial for small polygons that include only a few pixels, but decreases significantly for larger polygons. |
